Stay Tuned!

I was at Lackawanna Trail high school this past weekend and it was awesome!! I got to meet lots of neat people! Stay tuned for a new design that I will soon be posting. I've been selling this design at shows and I just got to photograph them yesterday. I'll give you a hint about the material I used in this new design; when you're lost this helps you find your way (old school, not a GPS!)...

Eco Flower Ring...

I made a fabulous flower ring the other day! I used a milk carton for this creation, so it's light and durable. The ring is double layered and movable (you can twist it around!) It would look great with spring and summer outfits! Side note: Don't forget to vote for my eco bracelet!!

Recupefashion Feature!!!

Today I'm featuring a lovely artist/mother/wife and business woman, Nathalie Brault of Recupefashion. She specializes in taking old, unwanted, end of the line materials and transforms them into new, beautiful items. In addition to the clothing Nathalie makes upcycled, handmade jewelry, sewn and crocheted items and also paper goods. And in addition to being an artist Nathalie also runs a very popular blog! Her blog, Women-Prenuers Galore promotes other women and their shops while attracting lots of traffic by hosting giveaways. I'm actually featured on her blog right now!
When Nathalie is not working in her studio she enjoys walking in the woods, baking, listening to music, caring for her animals, and relaxing with a crafting book. When it comes to business Nathalie keeps a positive attitude. She realizes the challenges of online sales especially in this economic slump but she focuses on marketing her work and keeping a strong online presence. Her mind is set on sales and sales are what she gets! I hope you take the time to check out Nathalie's amazing work! Here are other places to shop and look at Recupefashion:

First Show of the Season!

My first arts and crafts show of the season is this Saturday March 21 at Binghamton University West Gym in Vestal, NY (9a-4p). I can't believe the season is starting already! January and February were great months for me to rethink my designs, make some new ones and improve my etsy store. I did 11 shows last year, and this year I'm going to do 20! The photos above are some of my new designs you can look forward to this season!

Ecogeneration

I wanted to start a blog swap for the ecoetsy team I'm involved in. This is the first participant! So today I'm featuring a very talented etsy artist, Ecogeneration! She makes creative items by reusing and upcycling materials. She also uses
sustainable and renewable sources like organic cotton yarn, bamboo
yarn, recycled yarn, and upcycled yarn. Ecogeneration recently discovered recycled felt, so she's also starting to experiment with that too! If you'd like to learn more about Ecogeneration, she has a blog where she dishes
about eco friendly items, environment, and other "stuff" (http://ecogeneration.blogspot.com). Click the title above to visit her etsy store!! She makes wonderful items, perfect for gift giving! I especially love the brooches, coffee cup sweaters and magnets! Enjoy!

If you're an ecoetsy member and you're interested in participating in the blog swap let me know!

Wearable Abstract Art...

I've finally added brooches to my eco-jewelry line! These brooches are made from pieces of recycled plastic. I really enjoy making them. I don't think about anything except color and feeling. I want each brooch to have it's own little personality. Making these is a great exercise for my painting. I tend to worry and think too much, I want to paint the same way I make these brooches.

Detergent Bottle Earrings...

I love using contrasting colors in my work. The yellow and blue combo is one of my favorites. I cut these shapes from clothes detergent bottles. They're simple, yet super funky.

ArtworkbyKD

My show at Vestal High School yesterday was awesome! I met a lot of really great people and got lots of positive feedback on my work. I look foward to a few weeks of building up my inventory, creating new designs and concentrating on my etsy store. March will be here before I know it! I hope to take part in the BU show March 29th 2009. That will be the start of my 2009 season.

I'd love to hear of designs you'd like to see!
