New Design!

Here is the new design I mentioned... I've been making earrings using an old New York State map. My mom had the map and it was pretty beat, she was going to throw it out but I knew I could make some interesting earrings out of it. There are so many colors and designs on the map, they're so much fun! I made a few different shapes...

Stay Tuned!

I was at Lackawanna Trail high school this past weekend and it was awesome!! I got to meet lots of neat people! Stay tuned for a new design that I will soon be posting. I've been selling this design at shows and I just got to photograph them yesterday. I'll give you a hint about the material I used in this new design; when you're lost this helps you find your way (old school, not a GPS!)...

History and Art Day at the Roberson

I was asked to participate in the 3rd annual History and Art Day at the Roberson Museum in Binghamton, NY (Friday October 23)! History and Art Day is a program that immerses students (grades 3-8) in future career opportunities in the history and art fields. What will I be doing? I will have a small display of my eco art and I will talk to them briefly about what I do. Each professional also provides a hands on activity to do with the students. I will show them how to make bags and envelopes out of magazine pages. I'm looking forward to the experience!

Eco Coffee Mug Earrings!

I recently came up with this new design! They are little coffee mugs (or tea cups). I wanted a simple but fun design for such a popular drink. The idea actually came to me when I was brainstorming a request from L'aveggio Roasteria. L'aveggio wants me to make some eco-friendly Christmas ornaments for their tree in the coffee shop and for a tree that will be auctioned off by Coughlin and Gerhart. So obviously the ornaments needed a coffee theme. I thought a simple but cute design would come from soda cans. The ornaments will be bigger. I've also made plastic ones from coffee lids, etc. and they were really cute too!

New Item!

Here is a new (old) design I'm working with. I'm sure you're familiar with it, a peace sign... I originally got a special request from Earth and Wears to make a pair of these. I was so happy with the end result that I decided to add it to my line. I'm anxious to see how people react to them this weekend. I used a diet pepsi can for this pair...

I made this fabulous ring the other day! The green is from a 2 liter bottle. Stay tuned for another earring design made from a 2 liter bottle...

New Hoops!

I'm so excited about these new hoops I made! They're are a combination of a couple designs of mine. I can see them in so many color combos! The hoops are hand cut from a plastic iced-tea jug (a non-recyclable plastic mind you), then covered in tissue paper. They are time consuming but well worth the effort.

These plastic bottle earrings are one of my favorite designs to make. Once I get started it's easy to make at least 10 pairs. I love seeing and creating different color combos!! I just grab a bunch of bottles and go to town. I especially love seeing them lined up next to each other when I'm finished. Aaa...my color fix for the day!

Aluminum Flower Ring...

So, I've been making rings out of recycled plastic. I wanted to experiment with aluminum cans as well. I tried my 'jumbo flower' design, and I'm really excited with what I came up with! This ring is made up of 6 hand-cut layers. The tiny circle in the center is recycled plastic, the next 4 layers are aluminum from various cans, and at the base underneath is also recycled plastic (since aluminum is so thin). The result is a fun, colorful piece of wearable art! It will surely draw attention :-) I'm also making brooches and necklaces with this same flower design.
