Works in progress...

I'm currently working on a new series of earrings using a spherical shape and layering. These (a special order) are made from recycled plastics and tissue paper. I like having different textures in the same piece. There are so many colors I intend on creating. 5 pairs are in progress right now. I hope to be posting some to my etsy shop soon! What color combos would you like to see?

Chocolate Hangover

I had a great Easter yesterday, although I had so many smidgens I'm surprised I didn't turn into one. Great weather too! I got some great shots on a hike Saturday. I also created a new Eco Friendly Earring that I'm super excited about!! I call them Eco Friendly Locket Earrings. They are little lockets made from recycled materials. The picture seen inside the locket is actually from the original label on the bottle I used. The top of the locket is recycled aluminum from a soda can. I will be making more of these! You can purchase them from my etsy shop. Let me know what you think! Hopefully I stay clear of the chocolate today.....

Spring is just around the corner!

I'm trying to find upcoming craft shows to sell my work at this upcoming spring/summer. So far I'm signed up for one in June, and I have 2 to apply for. One is in Philadelphia and I really would love to be a part of it. It would be great exposure for me. The other in Ithaca would also be great exposure. I imagine it's pretty competitive. If you know of any craft fairs around NE PA area, upstate NY or anywhere let me know!

I'm pretty excited about these earrings I finished today! It's a combination of two different ideas I have been working with. I like using the 2 layered dynamic too. I'm looking forward to creating many colors in this style:) Let me know what you think! What color would you like to see?

Productive Week? We'll See...

Ever feel like your wheels are turning, yet you can't seem to get things accomplished? I have so many creative ideas spinning around in my head, so many materials, and colors that I don't feel like I can get to all of them. Seriously, new ideas wake me up in the middle of the night! I plan on selling in craft fairs this upcoming spring/summer and I really want to create a big, diverse body of work to sell. I just need to get myself organized!!!!! Maybe now that it's in print I'll get more accomplished...We'll see..

Beautiful Day

Some days you just need to drop everything and go outside...

Ummm.....

So I've been trying to burn the edges of my recycled plastic to make them look smoother.....It didn't work out exactly how I expected. It kind of warped the pieces and curled them at the edges....The last couple days have been pretty frustrating because of it. I'm determined to find an answer though! To Be Continued.....

Burning Plastic...

As you may know I make earrings out of recycled materials. I've recently been running into problems with the edges. After cutting and filing with both a metal file and a dremel tool I noticed the edges are still rough and flaky. I searched for answers yesterday on About.com and some friendly people suggested I use a flame or torch to "flame polish". So that is what I will do today. I'll let you know how it works out...

About.com is a great site for information on just about anything! I posted my question on a forum and I received feedback and helpful information. Check it out...

I couldn't find it anywhere else especially for that price....They offer multiple shipping methods, the "slowest" was delivered within a week. Check it out, let me know what you think!

Faux Stone Earrings!

I'm really excited about these earrings! They have a plexy glass base, then the plexy glass is covered in layers of colored tissue paper. Each layer is sealed. My intention is to have these look like old, weathered stones but in unimaginable colors. I have many other colors I intend on trying out. Which color is your favorite??
