First Friday in Bingahmton, NY...

I'm so excited to be a featured artist this Friday at L'aveggio Roasteria in Binghamton, NY! This is my first 'real' art gig since graduating from college. I feel proud that I'm making a name for myself as an artist. Throughout college I always struggled with the feelings of inadequacy. The pettiness and seriousness at times made me feel out of place. Another annoyance was when I told people what I was studying in college they looked at me as if I were majoring in pie throwing. Now when I explain my work I'm often congratulated! It's weird! I'm proud to be starting my career from the ground up, making contacts, networking, creating, reusing, I finally feel like myself.

Thanks for visiting my blog, KD! I was in Binghamton once, we adopted our dog from a shelter there. Does it snow a lot there, because he LOVES the snow?! Now I'm going to check out all the cool stuff you have here...

Ha! I couldn't agree more. Art is never recognized for the serious role it plays in creating a more stimulating environment for the public. It's amazing how people still fail to see the great contributions of artists to society, and how necessary art really is. Congratulations on everything, Kathy! Glad to see how dedicated you are to making art matter.
I'll talk to you soon.
