latest creation...

One of my latest creations is this eco-watch! This watch does not tell time, but it's sure to stir up some conversations. Why do we normally only wear things that serve a purpose? Why not wear a watch that does not tell time? You'll always be on time with this watch! This design is made from all recycled plastic pieces. It has a button snap closure for easy on and off!

4th of July!

I'm starting to make eco items for 4th of July! Last year when I was a newbie, I waited too late to start seasonal items. This year I'll hopefully be on time. These fun 4th earrings were hand cut from plastic bottles. Funky, patriotic and eco-friendly!

Another Eco-Flower Ring...

Here's another eco-flower ring I recently made. This style is a little more funky and abstract than the other one. It was made from recycled plastic bottles and it has an elastic band (just like the other ring). Another great spring/summer accessory!

New Item!

OK, so what's this big news you're wondering? Well, I'm now making eco rings! I'm really excited about them too! They are so colorful, cheerful and super funky. Each ring is made from pieces of recycled plastic and the pieces are fastened to an elastic band. They are nice and stretchy! The pieces are also movable, so change it up when the mood strikes! Many more of these to come :-)

First Show of the Season!

My first arts and crafts show of the season is this Saturday March 21 at Binghamton University West Gym in Vestal, NY (9a-4p). I can't believe the season is starting already! January and February were great months for me to rethink my designs, make some new ones and improve my etsy store. I did 11 shows last year, and this year I'm going to do 20! The photos above are some of my new designs you can look forward to this season!

Brand New Item!

I made a new style of eco hoop earrings! Instead of one hoop it's three hoops! All three different colored hoops are clustered together to make a super funky and chic design. Each hoop was carefully cut from a recycled piece of plastic (an iced tea jug to be exact!) and covered with tissue paper for rich color. These were very time consuming to make, but I'm really proud of the end result. I can't wait to make a bunch of different color combos!

Eco Envelopes!!

The shop owner from Green Being makes big envelopes from old magazines, I put my own twist on it by using girly magazines and a smaller sized envelope. These little envelopes are so funky and perfect for everything especially wedding/party invites, letters and gifts, etc. They are super easy to make too! And you can mail these! Regular postage is needed. There are so many great ways to reuse your magazines when you're finished with them! You can order these envelopes from my etsy shop!

New Spring Design...

Here's a new design of mine that incorporates recycled aluminum and plastic. The small silver circle is aluminum and the 2 bigger circles are plastic, all hand cut from recycled bottles and cans. They are a great way to add a punch of color. More colors to come!

Eco Gift Set...

This adorable gift set was created with recycled plastics and aluminum! The colored circles were hand cut from plastic bottles and the small silver circles were hand cut from aluminum soda cans. This design is part of my new spring line.

These guys were cut from coke cans. I bend the top circle for added texture. They are super light-weight and fun!

The Artist's Market is put on by a co-op called The Star Gallery which is right next door to Steve and Barry's. There will be around 20 artists attending. I will be there from 11am until the evening.

Life Magazine...

Throughout my life I've always been a 're user' and a 'recycler' (probably borderline pack rat too). About 10 years ago I came in contact with a bunch of Life magazines from the early 1950s. I've held onto them, and I finally found a use for them! Although I'm only using the issues I have doubles of...Guess I can't let go of them yet. I'm really pleased with this series. I'm using recycled plastic for the base, tissue paper for that funky 'pop' of color, and of course the vintage Life magazine text.

First Friday in Bingahmton, NY...

I'm so excited to be a featured artist this Friday at L'aveggio Roasteria in Binghamton, NY! This is my first 'real' art gig since graduating from college. I feel proud that I'm making a name for myself as an artist. Throughout college I always struggled with the feelings of inadequacy. The pettiness and seriousness at times made me feel out of place. Another annoyance was when I told people what I was studying in college they looked at me as if I were majoring in pie throwing. Now when I explain my work I'm often congratulated! It's weird! I'm proud to be starting my career from the ground up, making contacts, networking, creating, reusing, I finally feel like myself.
